Important Note: This pattern is contained in the Socks for All Seasons 2022 Club.
My favorite part of summer is the early mornings. I know what you’re thinking, hear me out. It’s the coolest part of the day, everything is quiet, the sunrise is always a sight to behold, and the grass is filled with morning dew.
The Summer Dewdrops capture just a bit of those cooler summer mornings with a mock cable and lace dewdrops running down thick blades of grass.
If you’ve done lace on a sock before, you’ll know, that it’s never very stretchy and can be hard to fit! These socks still have a good amount of stretch to help alleviate some of that.
Since we’re introducing socks with lace, the heel and toe will be ones that you’re already familiar with.
Gauge: 8 stitches/inch using US 1 (2.25mm circular needles).
Sizing: 1 (2,3) - which fits a foot circumference of (unstretched) 7.5 inches (8 inches, 8.5 inches) around.
Yarn: The yarn this pattern calls for is Drops Fabel which is a slightly thinner sock yarn. It comes in 50g skeins with 224 yards and is made up of 75% Wool, 25% Nylon. This is a highly affordable yarn and can be found in yarn stores across Europe and Canada or can be ordered online. It retails for around $3/skein (US). You’ll need 2 50g skeins for all three sizes.
Any lightweight or skinny sock yarn would work here. A good substitution would be Trekking XXL or Austermann Step.
Materials:
Notes: This pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be changed to DPNs. Use 2 needles for N1, and another 2 for N2. If you’re using 9-inch circulars, there will be notes throughout to guide you.
